Notes
1. Introduction
see list of participants
2. Meetings - frequency and alongside any other body?
There is consensus on having an annual face-to-face meeting and about two telecons/year.
3. Date(s) for next meetings
- next telecon: EOF August or early September 05 prior to Eiroforum DG meeting in October 05
- next face-to-face meeting: Dec 05/Jan 06
- details TBD; action 3.1
4. Who is willing to drive the applications pointers Web page?
Paul Harrison volunteers: see http://www.euro-vo.org/twiki/bin/view/Egg/GridLibrary
5. Who is willing to drive the summer students working on communications software?
MAH reports that OpenLab student program 2005 is already full; given additional resources it would still be possible to get smtg going
Francois Grey, Francois.Grey@cern.ch is contact person, in charge of the CERN openlab summer student programme and leader of the CERN IT communications team
JFA suggests to add Wiki topic about existing communication software tools/systems which are in use at individual member organizations
student program activities can be planned for 2006 as follow up
6. Comments on the DG Assembly presentation
slide EU use of EIROforum expertise :
SAN suggests summary slide about decisions, resolution, recommendations of EGG as group (rather than individual statements)
GCA remarks that slides are mostly about the process of EGG rather than about content (grid technology).
7. Pan-European Authorisation
SAN mentions that ESTEC is about to set up wireless outside ESA internal firewall
PAH remarks that EDUROAM doesn't seem to bring together user identities and local compute resources across organizations. After some discussion about a videocon about this topic it was decided to organize a meeting instead where participants will have the opportunity to learn more about EDUROAM and EU Grid PMA.
SAN about the Oracle based conferencing system: The main restriction is that it requires Windows; two initial responses of interest received; it was decided to try it out at some member institutions (action 7.2).
