AstroGrid
Astrogrid is a ~£4M project aimed at building a data-grid for UK astronomy, which will form the UK contribution to a global Virtual Observatory. It is also one of several Grid projects in the UK's e-science initiative - more information on these can be obtained from the National E-science Centre. Astrogrid is funded via the UK's Particle Physics & Astronomy Research Council (PPARC), based on the April 2001 Proposal. The project was formally started on 2001 September 1, although development began early in 2000.
