AVO Software License

AVO Toolset - Development Version

1. download AVO prototype bundled with ACE, SED, VOPlot and follow installation instructions
2. download AVO.jar and drop it into the installation directory replacing the original one; this will add Specview plug-in and other updates
3. get spectest.xml and load it at run-time to test Specview and spectrum access interfaces (do not use the meta data in this IDHA test tree for analysis purposes)

Further details about toolset

• The AVO prototype tool can be installed from http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr/java/AVO. Based on Aladin (CDS), it incorporates the SED tool, the ACE tool and VOPlot. The source code of Aladin for AVO can be downloaded from http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr/java/srcAVO.tar, the jar file can be downloaded from http://aladin.u-strasbg.fr/java/AVO.jar. Supported FITS image keywords are described here.
• The Spectral Energy Distribution (SED) Plotter was put together at ESO for the GOODS science demo in Jan. 2003. It was developed against the given user requirements. Here is the source code documentation packaged as .jar for version 0.8. See also attachments for more. SED is bundled with Aladin. Check the user manual for known issues.
• The Astronomical Catalogue Extractor (ACE) is the Astrogrid team's contribution to the AVO demonstrator (ACE client). See also the Astrogrid software repository.
• VOTable documents are used for data transfer between AVO software components. CDS is maintaining the Savot library for manipulating VOTable documents. Savot is bundled with Aladin.

• We were evaluating SourceForge as a software repository for IVOA and AVO components. The report is attached here. We are looking for a more lightweight approach (CVS with a web interface?).
