Metallicity

Metallicity is generally the proportion of all elements heavier than He in an astronomical context. These have (mainly) been synthsised in stars since the Big Bang. Much work has been done on how the star formation rate enhances metallicity. ISO and XMM are good for measuring the metallicity of SFR. However very little on how metallicity affects star formation, e.g. the IMF or the nature/fate of potential protoplanetary discs. There are some indications that IMF tends more towards low-mass with time (and hence probably higher metallicity)

No obvious application to this demo to produce results but note as a future possible science question?
