Accommodation and Visitor Information
- All SAC members should contact the secretariat of the ESO Data Management Division, Stella Chasiotis (smchasio@eso.org), to arrange for their travel.
- The meeting will be held at the "Sala de Juntas" of the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFCA, CSIC-UC) in Santander, Spain. Its location within Santander can be found here. It can easily be reached on foot from the "El Sardinero" area in Santander.
- There is an international (via Ryanair) airport in Santander, with direct Iberia flights to Madrid and Barcelona. The airport of Bilbao is about 100km (1 hour and >~140EUR by taxi) away, but it has "proper" international connections (including Iberia, Lufthansa, Air France...). Public transport between Bilbao and Santander is cheap and relatively frequent (>=1 bus/hour) in daytime.
- For those coming to Santander via Bilbao there is a doodle page here to organize/minimize taxi trips between Bilbao's airport and the hotels at El Sardinero. A local company has offered reduced rates. Please click on your flight's arrival and departure times. The information will be collected and a confirmation will be sent to those who registered.
- IFCA has agreements with a number of local good hotels (all withing walking distance). To get cheap rates the bookings have to be made through the Instituto de Física. Please contact Ines Martí (imartin @ ifca.unican.es) telling her that you are coming to the 9th VOSAC meeting, your name, which date you are arriving and which date you are leaving. She will arrange for your accommodation and let you know.
Travel and Expenses
- The EURO-VO Project will cover all SAC expenses, including air/train fare, accommodation, meals, taxis, etc. This will be done by ESO, upon presentation of all relevant receipts and up to a maximum of 900 Euros (including air/train fare, which will be covered directly by ESO).
- Please contact Stella Chasiotis (smchasio@eso.org, +49-89-3200-6692) ASAP and in any case by SEPTEMBER 5, to arrange for your travel.
