[MD] organize telecon to discuss science scenario for AVO SWG demo with FG, NW, Anita, Laurent, Paolo [AL] investigate possibility to have VO meeting after SPIE in Glasgow in June 04 [FG] will report on recent NVO meeting [PQ] following up on timing of EC calls in 2004 [PQ, NW] initiate SOC for IVO meeting in June 2004 Calendar: week Sep 22-25, 03 AVO 'Science' Telecon with Paolo Padovani Oct 5-8, 2003 GGF9, Chicago Oct 16-17, 2003 Interop Meeting, Strasbourg Nov 20-22, 2003 EC meeting Jan. 27-28, 2004 AVO SWG meeting/demo end of June, 2004 VO meeting around the time of SPIE/Glasgow Agenda: 1. how to continue with EURO-VO 2. AVO SWG Demo Plan for Jan. 2004 3. IVOA progress ad 1) - cancel VO-TECH proposal for October 03 call - the AVO exec is committed to make EURO-VO a reality despite setback on the EC front - we have a commitment of 40-45KEuro from OPTICON and 30KEuro from RADTIONET for networking support in the period 1/04-7/05 - need to start preparing for next round of FP6 proposals now; attend meetings, etc. with a view to proposing under the infrastructures call in mid to late 2004 - PB continues to support VO initiatives in his new role and should be kept informed - PQ will continue to look for additional financial support from ESO and ESA with a view to form a strong EIRO lobby group for the next proposal - AVO manpower should not be diverted into efforts supporting the ENEDAC proposal - we wish them well and encourage them to support the EURO-VO effort in their proposal ad 2) http://www.euro-vo.org/twiki/bin/view/Avo/SwgDemo2004 General consensus that it is feasible: - need to work out science scenario with Paolo - AL, NW like to see more emphasis on technology aspects, like MySpace http://wiki.astrogrid.org/bin/view/Astrogrid/MySpace - FG advocates packaging registry functionality separately rather than include it in AVO prototype at all costs in the given time ad 3) - registry: in order to federate the various registry activities cross referencing of NVO, Astrogrid etc. services should be defined as a goal and made a discussion point at the Oct. interop meeting in Strasbourg with general clarification of the current agreement on registry standards for January demos - interop meeting: already 80 registrations; it will be a mixture of plenary and splinter sessions - PQ will attend GGF9 with NW and GR to initiate the ASTRO WG - If we are to have an international VO meeting in June next year (satellite to SPIE in Glasgow 21-25 June) then we need to move now. PQ will initiate an SOC discussion and NW will act as interim LOC chair. The general consensus was that we should proceed with the meeting as planned.
