PROJECT WORKPACKAGES
WP1 – NA1 – Management
This Work Package is led by CNRS. Its
objectives are to oversee the project on behalf of all the partners, to
co-ordinate financial and administrative matters and to deliver the project
external presence.
WP2 - NA2 - STRATEGY, CO-OPERATION AND DISSEMINATION
This Work Package is led by CNRS. Its objective is to ensure all the project Networking Activities through:
- WP2-1: Strategy definition
- WP2-2: Workshops
- WP2-3: Community dissemination
- WP2-4: International co-operation on the definition of IVOA standards
- WP2-5: Liaison with other communities
WP3 - SA1 - SERVICE ACTIVITIES IN SUPPORT OF DEPLOYMENT OF IVOA PROTOCOLS AND STANDARDS
This Work Package is led by ESA. Its objective is to support the deployment of IVOA protocols and standards in Europe with the goal of increasing the amount of astronomical resources being accessible through the Virtual Observatory.
WP4 – SA2 – SERVICE ACTIVITIES IN SUPPORT OF PROVISION OF VOBS-ENABLED SERVICES TO THE SCIENCE COMMUNITY
This Work Package is led by ESO. Its objective is to serve the science community in its uptake of the VObs-enabled data infrastructure:
- Trigger advanced usage of VObs capabilities
- Obtain a set of well documented science cases
- Gather feedback about the science community needs
- Adapt VObs tools to these needs
WP5 – SA3 – SERVICE ACTIVITIES FOR EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
This Work Package is led by INAF. Its objective is to provide and share expertise and material between partners useful for:
- Higher educational level (university, doc and post doc students)
- Teacher of the 14-18 years old students (non specialists in astronomy)
- General public and press
WP6 - JRA1 - EVOLUTION OF VOBS INTEROPERABILITY STANDARDS
This Work Package is led by UEDIN. Its objectives are:
- To decide what technical standards and protocols are required for Euro-VO
- To bring forward these requirements to the IVOA
- To develop drafts of these standards
- To develop prototype software implementing the draft standards
- To make all possible effort to conclude international agreement on the necessary standards
- To ensure that deployments within Euro-VO are compatible with IVOA standards.
WP7 - JRA2 - DATA ACCESS PROTOCOLS AND DATA MODELS
This Work Package is led by ESA. Its objectives are:
- Taking into account requirements from the scientific users and the data centres, participate in the IVOA Working Groups for the definition of the IVOA standards and protocols for data access, data description (taking into account in particular data provenance and data quality), and query language, beyond the present initial versions ("simple" protocols).
- Input will be given to the Data Access Layer, Data Models and VO Query Language IVOA Working Groups, in the frame of WP2-2 activities.
WP8 - JRA3 - ASSESSMENT OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
This Work Package is led by CNRS. Its objective is to assess the potential usage of emerging technologies of interest to the VObs in technical areas where partners are involved.
